T3 - Layout Assigment

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

How can I assign different presets in T3/Nebula to various menu items.

E.g. default should be used on Home while sidebar left should be used on Services?

thanks

It very much depends on what you want to achieve with the layout

The demo site uses the modules layout assigned to home and the default layout as the template default

What I wrote.

I want to show the default style on the Home menu since there will be only modules.
For the menu Services I want to use sidebar left since in the default setting the sidebar-1 is directly attached to the text (which is not the case with sidebar-2).

Under the template assignment option of T3 there is the choice of menus. Result of the assignment is that all menus are assigned to one template style and not the selection.
I guess that in theory there should be an option to select the template style in the current style field under assignment, but it stays default no matter what is chosen under layout. In conclusion there seems to be some dependency that I do not understand and could not find an answer to in the T3 documentation.

Hi there,

Did you create a template style based on the selection?

eg click save as copy in the template admin and then assign the new style as either default or just attached the home page int he menu assignment area.

Let us know if that helps.

Hi there,

sounds like an issue of which step first after reading your question.

I try to tell the exact steps I take:

a) I go to templates and click on Nebula
b) The T3 "styling area" opens with the options layout, assignment, etc.
c) I chose sidebar-left; alternatively I created a copy of the layout and have been able to name it e.g. Layout Services.
d) Then I go to Assignment - here there is only one template style "Default". With try and error it was possible to change the name to “Layout Services” in the Name field, but it does not seem to activate a selection of the configured layout in the layout option.
e) Assigning template styles to menu selection results in all menu items being assigned. E.g. I figured that when assigning “Service Layout” to menu item “Services” that “Home” should stay default since I did not select the menu item. This is not the case.

T3 plugin should be up to date.

Thanks a lot!

Ok - I could solve it with a hint in your text.

Steps to take are:

1) Open the default layout.
2) Go to Layouts and create a new Layout in the name field.
3) Choose the Template style you want to assign to the name
AND THEN
4) Go above, use the drop down of SAVE and choose "Save as copy".

Result: Now under assign one can choose the styles.

Just copy the steps in your DOC if you want.

next on the to do list:: Change default with of sidbar-1 left and main component field on the Service Layout - any hints where to start?

Of course - sorry for being unclear.

I still think in the Zengrid terms of dividing up total space in units like 3:10 for sidebar and main component. ;) based on text volume.

I want to adjust the sidebar-1 width from 31% to 25% and enlarge maincol accordingly.

Hi

T3 uses spans instead of grids for the sidebar and main content

They need to add up to 12 spans in total

You can adjust the spans here

templates\nebula\tpls\blocks\mainbody-right.php

In this file you would adjust the spans as required
- I'd suggest having a copy of the file first as a backup

We are working towards making this more flexible
