I've to manage a little photogallery with some subcategories for the photos.
I've set the images in different folders as categories albums.
Like a standard gallery view, I would like to have a page with just the covers (the first photo) of this folders, then clicking on the cover to show (on the same page or on another page) the images of the clicked folder.

I've tried creating this combining more then one "Single item gallery" on the same page (each single item gallery loads from one folder), the result is good except that zentools loads all the images at once and the user is going to download many MBytes at once, then waiting minutes to see the page also because the server cpu load is so heavy.

Is there another way to obtain this result with zentools and a good performance ?

Im actually working on a template solution for his for the June theme.

Basically its a complete gallery solution inside the template with drag and drop gallery creation and templating in the template admin.

It uses ajax to load new galleries and lazyloads the images so there is no performance hit.

There will be an option to have a front page as you describe where an image is show to represent a number of galleries and when they are clicked the full gallery loads without page load.

So no need to create content items or worry about menu item ids.

No Zentools cant do this.

Its a stand alone template and will be released as our next club template so yes its a paid download.

I think the best way will be to install a gallery-extension.
