Why JTweet isn't showing tweets

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

JTweet pulls the tweets from Twitter's search results of the latest tweets of a particular user. However, Twitter's search results vary in age, sometimes the oldest ones being 2 weeks, sometimes just 1.5 ...

The problem with JTweet's practice to pull search results is that if the Twitter user hasn't published enough - or anything at all - before Twitter's search result timeout, JTweet will have nothing to show. (That's why my site didn't show anything for a while)

Given Twitter's unreliability in search matters and that they reserve the right to change above mentioned time frame at their discretion based on system load, I would like to suggest JTweet to at least add other methods like RSS of the actual stream. A lot such plugins are already available, so code shouldn't be a problem.

Hey Andre,

Your analysis is spot on. The RSS feeds can be unreliable too but they are certainly better than what twitters search API throws up.
We are certainly looking into adding this functionality to jTweet.
Thanks for the excellent feedback.

Cheers,
Jason.

not sure if this is a related issue
but using JTweet (first time installer) and the tweets show up on the website.

Problem:
The latest tweet on my twitter page does not show up on my webpage which has JTweets on it. How do I get it to "refresh" sooner ?

Thanks in advance.

Edit:
adding website: carymasjid . org
also on Joomla 1.0.15 and thus installed Jtweet for 1.0
didn't do any other JBLibrary plugins, (it failed to install).

Hi Lazy,

Sounds like a caching issue related to the search as described above. I have noticed that if you have only 5 tweets and are displaying five tweets then there can be issues in displaying all 5 tweets.

I get access denied on your site btw.

thanks Anthony for the response.

the site had some unrelated tech diffclty yesterday and is back up.
regarding tweets, currently we have 11 tweets.
provisioned to show 3 of them
from the last 7 actual tweets, the module shows the 2nd, 3rd, and 7th most recent tweets.

if it's search issue, we will wait and thanks for looking into this.
if it' something else, please advise.

take care guys
and thanks again

Hi Lazy,

Yes I think thats an issue with the way the module is pulling the tweets. Thanks to Andre we are looking into a better way to pull tweets via the module. Will hopefully have a solution soon.
