Category Links in K2 and SEF

Everthing working perfectly with Captify Content, except that half the Category links are not delivering our main menu SEF urls, but ' .com/component/k2/itemlist/category/126-.....html' instead. Can't find an answer in the forum

thanks for your help

It sounds like you may have not created menu items for those, so there is no alias in the DB to form an SEF URL from.

The solution is to create menu items.

it was the Latest Category Items by User in K2 main menu set up which was not doing what we expected. Regular K2 category menu items worked fine.

Noted also that when we changed the Category images to .gifs, the Captify Content extrension works for us. We had problems with viewing all the categories/images when they were .jpgs.

If you are assigning the modules to only some menu items then you will need to update the menu items you publish them to every time you add new ones.
You could add a category blog menu item that should cover all new items you add and publish the module to that menu item. That might help. Really depends on your usage.
We might have a better idea if you could share a link with us.
The Captify content module certainly works best with jpegs so let us know what issues you face when using jpegs.

Cheers,
Jason.

Captify content working as we originally wanted, with gifs.

First created this page:

www.deliciousitaly.com/delicious-italy-homepage/summary-travel-categories.html.

Then slimmed it down for the homepage.

The reason some Captify items do not have true SEF urls is because there are no menu items for them, so no alias in the DB, giving URLs like:

www.deliciousitaly.com/italy-vacation-offers/special-offers/seasonal-tours/itemlist/category/114-incoming-offers.html

Just create a menu item for those items, even if it is in a 'dummy menu' that is not published on the site, and you will get a nice url.

Just created a Hidden Menu and some K2 items. Assigned modules etc. No problem, looking as expected. But noticed the Search Results do not deliver the SEF links, nor associated modules. Menu confusion once again! Any help appreciated, thanks

Hi there,

To check if the template is having an influence on this you can go to templates/newstream/html/com_search and temporarily rename it to something else so that it doesnt load. That way we can rule out whether its related to the template or is a joomla setting.
