JBFAQ - Category and Section ID can't be defined!

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

hi, i just installed JB_FAQ_J1.5_v1.1.zip and when i configure the global parmaters - i can't configure the tategory and Sections ID instead i there is a line "catid Element not defined for type = categories" which is grayed out.

i reinstalled the package and it didn't help so i looked at the xml file and it doesn't seem the section id is even defined. below, i extraced the relevant lines from the XML file... :(

have you changed the installation file? can anyone help me pls.... thanks in advance!

<param name="show_front" type="radio" default="1" label="Frontpage Items" description="PARAMFRONTPAGEITEMS">
<option value="1">show</option>
<option value="0">hide</option>
</param>
<param name="catid" type="categories" default="" label="Category" description="PARAMCATEGORYID" />
<param name="@spacer" type="spacer" default="" label="" description="" />
<param name="moduleclass_sfx" type="text" default="" label="Module Class Suffix" description="PARAMMODULECLASSSUFFIX" />
</params>

Hi Ram,

Ive just tried to replicate it here but cant seem to. We used a new method of calling the category names rather than using id's so im not sure whats causing this - a bit of a long shot - do you have categories on your site?

Thanks Anthony

hi Anthony and thanks for your note.

yes, i do have other categories on my site. i also defined category and section both called FAQ.

i somehow think that my XML is wrong ( as it doesn't mention sections...) but this is the XML file in the standard installation that everyone are using.... so i can't figure this out?

any help will be appreciated!

I've just uploaded version 1.04 to the ticket that Alain has pointed to. Do you mind posting your server details e.g. operating system on the other posts I can see if there's a common link.

Thanks Anthony

ram, is right;
The mistake is in the mdule backend xml.
type="categories" should read type="text".
I upload a corrected version of the module.

Thanks to all.

Hi Alaine,

the type equals "categories" is actually the way that we are trying to reference the category list in the module. I'm not 100% sure why this is isnt being displayed properly on your site. But is working it for us and also works in other modules that we use the same technique with.

Thanks Anthony

Hi Anthony,

Understand your point...

but will go to bed now it's 1 AM here.

Hope you will find where this type="categories" should be defined...

See you

The category list is a Joomla feature, one that JB FAQ utilizes, along with some of our other extensions.

docs.joomla.org/Category_parameter_type

It seems to be an issue often with Windows servers, and also with outdated versions of Joomla. Make sure you have latest (1.5.15 as of Nov 12th), which should run correctly on PHP 5.3 (previously Joomla didn't like the latest version, but that is fixed now).

Jeremy

Hi Jeremy,

The doc you pointed to describe a type="category" not type="categories" as one can read into JB FAQ xml...

I have no time now to check if this is the problem, will do that in the evening.

Hi Folks,

Ive just updated to v1.1.1. Seems there was a different typo in the v1.1 that meant that the include method of loading the categories wasnt working. ive streamlined it now and have used the method that Jeremy pointed to and it looks like its solved the issue.

Please let me know how you get on and also please remember you need to use JB Library.

Thanks Anthony
