Feature Request: Multi Column Menu "Mega Menu"

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Any chance of a multi column or mega menu being added to the Zen Framework?

That would really top of these amazing templates and really help us out as people are starting to ask for them in sites. Look forward to this being released:woohoo:

Is there any way to get mega menu to work with Zen currently? I worked with joomlaart T3 framework and really like that feature.

But I haven't looked at the T3 menu so not sure. I'm sure there would be a way but I doubt it would be an easy option.

Please add mine to the other mega menu/multi-column requests. Like Jacob Nielsen reported, a well executed mega menu can make a site far easier to use than hierarchical sub menus. The combination of JoomlaBamboo simple elegance with mega menu functionality would make for a near perfect user website experience. Of course the site needs to have interesting content too, but I suppose there's only so much you can do for us. :silly:

a well executed mega menu would certainly be a huge boon imo to the JB house.

Yep its still on my list for sure - just need to get up to speed with template releases before we can commit to the new development. But I hope to be able to add it to the catalogue in the next few months.

Hello guys,

i am trying also to use a mega menu with jb newstream template. In particular the mega menu shown in the link below:

demos.joomseller.com/joomla-modules/dropdown-mega-menu.html

But there are alotof conflicts with newstream js & css.

I am thinking about buying a 3 months subscription with joomlabamboo just to have some support with mega menu configuration with newstream & zengrid framework.

Is it possible? (asking joomlabamboo admins & moderators :) ) ...

It is vital for my project (huge menu & categories structure) to have such a funcionality (mega menu) ...

thanks in advance

Have you looked at extensions.joomla.org/extensions/structure-a-navigation/menu-systems/drop-a-tab-menus/11578 My experience with it was quite good

Hey Bear,

I also took a look at the Maxi Menu CCK, but was not as successful as you were in implementing it.

My understanding was that it would be better to use a JQuery-based extension with the Zen Grid framework rather than a MooTools-based extension, but if you were able to get this extension to work well with a JB template, perhaps I should give it another try. If it's not prying too much, would you mind mentioning the name of a template with which this extension worked?

Thanks.

Sincerely,
reddeer

@Thanasis I think this sort of thing is best done on a freelance basis actually. I haven't used that menu module and Im not sure Ill get to take a look at it this week unfortunately.

Ill respond to your email with some idea of some folks who might be able to help.

@redder Ive a ctually looked at Maximenu and the main issue there is css styling rather than jQuery vs moo tools. It should work ok but it won't look very pretty because the default themes available aren't that great to be honest.

I will schedule some time next week to take a look at the best option to move forward and try and get some progress on this for you guys.

Thanks for your patience.

Hi Anthony,

Please don't bother (at least for me) about referrals to free lancers. Custom work is not in the budget.

For the time being, I've just used text separators in Superfish menus and postponed multi-column designs to the next revision. I 'll have to take a crack at menu styling myself anyway as I had to hack the main menu bar look to get the gradient silver nav bar these guys want. (Turned out really well, actually. I think you'd be proud of how it looks with the rest of the template. B) )

The reason I thought JQuery extensions were preferred was based on a ticket reply from someone else at JB.

Thanks again.

Best regards,
reddeer

I'd love to see the site.
Moo is the "official" for J! but a LOT of devs like / prefer JQ ... go figure.

The production site should go public in summer and the dev server is firewalled off I could send a screen shot though if you would like PM.
