joomla 3.3.6 migration problem

Whoops! I am working on the live site.
I've obviously got very confused - trying to do too much at once and forgetting where I've got up to.
I have everything backed up, so I'll just go on with what I've got.
I'll let you know what happens…

Uploaded everything, cleaned and purged the cache, set cache to off and fixed the database.
All back to normal now.
Many thanks Paul and Rob - now for the big one with loads of extensions!
