Anthony Olsen's Blog
indynu5h Description:
A short description about your blog

We've had a few requests for help adding the drop boxes found in the Habitat3 template to other templates such as Slider and Scroller. Here is a step by step explanation of how to approach this. It requires a little bit of hacking but the results should be worth it.

alledia.jpgSteve from Alledia has just written a blog post regarding hidden links in Joomla modules and components. He highlights the latest version of Joomap (a component we use here) and gives some sound reasoning for using the Joomla Credits module to link to the third party extensions in use on your Joomla Site, while removing the hidden links.

three_coloumns.jpg When I first came across Joomla a majority of the designs/templates out there consisted of a three column center focussed layout, and yes while there are still three coloumn templates being produced as we speak, for the most part modern Joomla template design has started to veer away from this.

Joomla template resource This months flavour of the month is Mossnippet. Its a slightly older extension for Joomla (Added in November 2006) but well worth a look if you are prone to adding php or javascript into your content items. The wysiwyg editors generally clean any raw code up for you so Mossnippet allows you to add the code without any fear of it being stripped ... check it out.

One of the funkier ways to use Moo Flip is to use images and to flip them over. We know that this can have repurcussions from an SEO point of view since search spiders cant read images (or at least text typed onto images). So a way to still use images but have them accessible is to use the text offset strategy.

Using Mootools and Joomla

Mootools Logo Over the past few months we've really been enjoying the amazing flexibility that comes with the mootools javascript library. Its such a flexible modular system and really has a lot to offer in terms of eye candy for Joomla based or any other type of web site for that matter.

While this group of backgrounds for your website are quite as good or as extensive as the kollermedia backgrounds I pointed to last month, its still worth a look ... even if its just to look at this designers nice and clean design.

We just noticed that Moo Flip has been translated into French and is available at Joomla France. In fact Joomla France is the biggest referrer of visitors to Joomla Bamboo behind Joomla.org at the moment ... so a big thanks and welcome goes out to our French visitors.

We are very happy to introduce a new addition to the Joomla Bamboo Club - Bamboo Extensions. You may have noticed that we have recently started to make some little modules to help make Joomla even more fun and so today heralds the launch of the member only extensions.
