We have released some quick start Joomla packages for a selection of our templates. They are essentially complete installations of the template demo that you can see at the template showcase with all of the necessary Joomla components, modules and plugins pre-configured.

Here is a step by step to install the quick start package. Please note that the quick start packages are only for brand spanking Joomla installations and will not work if you already have a site installed.

Install the Joomla files.

Unzip the contents of the quick start package to your hard drive and upload to your web server.

Creating the database on your server.

This step will differ according to the server you are using but on most cpanel accounts with access to phpmyadmin the steps should be as follows:

1. Open your cpanel account on your server.

2. Click on the mysql datatbase icon .

3. Type the name of the database you would like to create in the create new database field and click "create new database". You should then receive a success message telling you of the successful creation of the database. Please make a note of the name of the database you created.

4. Now scroll down to the Mysql user option and create a new user by entering the database username and password. You should then receive a success message  telling you of the successful creation of the user. Make a note of the username and password.

5. Once you have been returned to the MYSql database page scroll down again to the section allows you to add users to databases.

6. Select the database name you created and the user you created from the two drop down boxes in this area and click "add".

7. On the next page click "all privileges" to allow the user to have full access to the database.

8. Once you have a success message you can then move onto the next step.

Installing the Database.

 1. Navigate to where you uploaded or unzipped the quickstart package on your web server or local hard drive and locate the backup directory in the Joomla installation (You can find this at:  administrator --> backups )

2. Open the database-sql.sql file. The sql contains the database for you to use to install the content and other parameters that Joomla needs.

2. Open PHP Myadmin on your local or web server.

3. Click on the Database that you created in the previous step when you craeted the database on your server.

4. Click the sql tab on the top horizontal menu in phpmyadmin and paste the contents of the database-sql.sql file into the window.

5. Click 'Go"

6. Depending on the size of the database this may take some time. Once you have received the success message you can close the cpanel account.

In the next part of the tutorial we will look at how to  link the database with the Joomla files.
