A preview of the Grid2 K2 Theme
A few of you have been asking for more previews of the Grid2 Joomla template whose release is quite imminent, so I thought Id post a screenshot of the K2 Blog template that we are shipping with Grid2. Once again its a pretty simple blog type layout and the screenshot is using the minimal theme called white squares.
Simpleshop gets a revamp
An old favourite template of ours has just been given a new lease of life with an update for the Zen Grid Framework plus support for Tienda and K2. Simpleshop's focus is on simplicity so its a very minimal and mostly stripped back Joomla template that pulls on some common Tienda styling from our Shopfront release as well as the Avanti K2 template that we released back in January. Simpleshop is an incredibly fast and lightweight template that provides a perfectly clean slate for you to showcase your products on.

Shopfront released
After a slight delay Im pleased to announce the availability of the Shopfront template built for Tienda and K2. We will be posting some features in the next couple of weeks regarding using Tienda and why its such a revolution in terms of Joomla ecommerce but for the time being please take your time and enjoy the Shopfront demo or read more about the template here.
Shopfront is built on the Zen Grid Template Framework and is compatible with Tienda 0.4.4 +. Tienda is a free Joomla ecommerce solution created by Dioscouri.

I cant count the number of times a design has changed in the week before a Joomla template release here at Joomal Bamboo. It's almost like a part of my creative process, that the design doesn't really bed itself down until we start doing the coding.
As a short note that's pretty much what happened late last week for the impending Shop Front template release using the new Tienda component from Dioscouri. It means that the template will be delayed a few days but I think the wait is going to be worth it.
Avanti template updated to v1.0.1
Just a quick note to let you know that I've updated Avanti to be compatible with K2 v2.2. There are a few bug fixes in this release too so be sure to check the Avanti changelog for a full run down of whats changed and how to update it.
Please update your K2 installation to v2.2 to use this template.
On a side note we have some major updates for Microblog and BambooBox coming in the next few days. Among other things we have swapped out fancybox for the awesome colorbox jQuery lightbox which will offer some nice new features to play with when launching your content in the lightbox. Ill post more when thats ready in the next few days.
Login screen for Joomla Crisp Admin
A few days before the end of the new year I posted some screenshots of our upcoming Joomla admin template. Yesterday I was playing around with the login screen and thought Id give you a sneak peak at what I have so far. Its pretty sparse and minimal and matches the rest of the theme pretty well.
Can you have too many module positions?
As a developer I say clearly and loudly no! However when I first began my journey into Joomla territory a Joomla template with lots of module positions was quite frankly terrifying.
The thought of creating a template from scratch was intimidating; yet looking at the templates available the thought of implementing some of them was a truly daunting prospect. Unless you are working with a thoughtful template designer, who provides a screen shot of module positions and a run through of included typography etc, then a complex template will be a nightmare to implement.
Avanti Corporate Joomla Template released
Im happy to announce the release of our first template for the decade. Avanti is a business inspired theme with some amazing K2 functionality. The template comes with two k2 templates and we have just released updates for our JB Slideshow3 and Microblog module which are now able to display K2 content.

Snapshots are go for 2010
After a few months of testing and sending our new snapshot system into the wild, Im happy to announce that from the January release on (due for release in the next day or so) we will be releasing templates with Snapshots only. We wont be releasing a quickstart package for the Avanti template or any future releases and as we develop the snapshots for our prior template releases we will be phasing out the quickstart packages all together.

In a nutshell the snapshots significantly reduce our maintenance time for new and old releases in terms of updating Joomla or any of the Joomal extensions that we use in the release packages. We will also be able to offer a much wider variety starter sample content, so rather than installing the quickstart and removing the demo content the hope is that you will install the quickstart and just start writing.
Ill be posting here when we release new sample data systems but for the time being stay tuned for the release of Avanti.
Another look at Avante - k2 Theme
I thought I would post an update for the Avante theme and give you a snippet of a snapshot of the K2 template that will ship with the Joomla template. Since making the blog here at JB using the K2 component we have grown to love the flexibility in templating that this cck (content construction kit) from Joomlaworks has to offer.
Avante will come with a few different layout options focussed on a corporate / business blog and catalogue layout. The snapshot below is of the page view for the blog layout. Avante will be released early next week.
