what position to look for in the Template Designer to control my Text (as a Content in an Article)

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hi.

Given the provided attachment.

What is the name of the position (is it position : breadcrumb? -- is it position : null ? or is it neither of those?)
tp1.jpg

in case i want to make the texts (white and many colored) to float above the GIF Animation)
www.brokenvessels.xyz/ <-- it's working as i want at the moment.
but i want the text to float: make use of a parallax effect. <<- i need to know which tab/position to 'design' in the 'template designer', so that i get this parallax effect ?

So again: I have no clue, from the attached info, what is the correct name of the position I am set to look for, to make the right choice in the Module Manager and set the right Position, so that
I can control my Text and vimeo embed in the Template Designer. ??

Help me soon, please, I am waiting since two days now for an answer.
Thank You in advance,
Nicole

Hi Nicole

It is difficult to be sure on the module position as it varies depends on how you use or set up Buildr, however is it likely to be top-left.

You will be able to tell by looking in the admin for the template, and the design tab. This will show you (and allow to move) the row and module positions to suit your design and requirements.

If you look here and take a look at the documentation it may help you.
docs.joomlabamboo.com/joomla-template/buildr-documentation/layout
and for module positions
docs.joomlabamboo.com/joomla-template/buildr-documentation/layout/module-positions

This can be different depending on which presets you have started out using or changes you have made during development of the website template. Buildr is very flexible once you understand how it works.

I hope that helps you a little until jb support are back on line.

Regards Ian

Hi Nicole,

Unfortunately, I find email support very hard to manage as I get so many emails

Combining an animated gif with a parallax is uncharted territory

Can you attach the animated gif - you might need to zip the file

Cheers
Paul

Have you tried installing a quickstart in a separate installation?

This is a good learning tool

Are you familiar with animated pngs - I know IE/Edge is the only browser that doesn't support it but you may get a better finished image

h Paul.
it did work a few minutes, with animated Gif: as an animated gif and a gif, are the same.
parallax i think should not behave differently one or the other, the way a still image works, the same with an animated, so i would not think it is uncharted.. i am looking the documentations about parallax. yet (and this has happened many times) the front-end does not answer interactively to the back-end modifications. i am changing the size of the image, try to set the row background to the gif, try 'cover' instead than 'inherit', try to 'add overlay above image', whatever i do , nothing happens front-end.

yet, at the moment thus, it seems i cannot make it work again. and the problem i had (when it worked) was
the gif was 'double', and one limited to the upper left side, because applied two times, in two different modules.

so i deleted the layout, and re-built, after understanding my article was linked with 'maincontent', and the latter should go to the 'menu' row.

www.brokenvessels.xyz <-- now everything (besides a delay of interactivity between the designer and the database host, but i guess that's not something i can control from joomla! ?) everything works (IE/Firefox and Chrome if i clear cache often), with the exception of:
1) i wish to try parallax again, i told you, see above^[.
2) the menu : i wish it would be possible to control the font and color of text written in the menu i created in joomla, and to know how it can stand out from the article's content? (i wish the menu could have a white background that i can use on other pages, with other article contents.

after a few trial and errors, i finally understand a bit better (but the documentation is not that much always that very clear, --i must allow myself into saying: the English should be polished somehow, a bit !! )

thank you,
regards,
Nicole

Hi Nicole,

What can happen is an error is generated in the settings

This is where an invalid value is added to a setting or an image is selected that has a file size that causes the site to run out of memory

What do you mean, a 'variant' of the 'email' ?

probably the link works for me and not on your computer, it does not matter why, it's just the very same page we find on your joomlabamboo build.r demo : the specific page of 'stacked' you can reach from menu 'zentools' on build.r demo. (<< The stacked layout is a faux parallax etc etc >> )

thank you,
best,
Nicole

Hi nicole,

I tried various parts of the link to see if any loaded - they didn't at the time

www.mathiasj2.sg-host.com/mathynoux_quick/index.php/zentools/zentools2/stacked

www.mathiasj2.sg-host.com/mathynoux_quick/index.php/zentools/zentools2/

www.mathiasj2.sg-host.com/mathynoux_quick/index.php/zentools/

etc

The site does load now

This example

riversideconsultancy.co.uk/buildr/index.php/zentools/zentools2/stacked

uses a folder of images and takes the title of the image

In the drag and drop section of the module title and image are set to display

This module is supposed to be a lightbox which isn't configured properly

Dear Paul,
Glad if it works. It's anyway some material that you do know: it's the "stacked layout" on the 'zentools' menu of your Build.r demo !

Can you answer the questions I sent you via email?

It's about the procedural, step by step 'how to' build this "stacked layout" page: as to the need for a category, and the need for finding the right layout designer in the style 'template' (see my email please!)

thank you so much,
Nicole

There are lots of zentools2 modules

Each zentools2 module has its own unique number e.g.530 in the picture above

With the number you can use that to find it in the module admin

loadposition is part of the joomla core

It loads the module into article and into other modules (other modules is more complicated)

1. loadposition works by typing a unique position name in the position box

2. In menu assignment set it to load on all pages

3. use the loadposition syntax to load the module position name you created previously

so in the example

stacked-example is typed in the module position box

and in the article this is added

{loadposition stacked-example}

Hi Paul.

Wait.

Could you just answer me this simple question:

-What is the simple, or the multiple Layout(s) in this very simple - specific - example:

- stacked layout:

For which of the Template Design Style Layout(s) in the QuickStart demo, am I to look for?

Your answer must be simple: it's, this , for example 'backgrounder', unique one, or it's those various: - Nicole: "look for 'backgrounder' and 'writer' and 'xero' (just examples here.

Can you tell me with precision. ?

I think I get lost in your explanations, which obviously do not answer my querry about 'step by step' how to.

Thank You,
Best,
Nicole
