Search reveals html in title

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

I suspect this is a Joomla issue, but when testing the "Search" feature, both from the menu and on the search page, if the search item is in the title, the html for "span" is shown. I expected it to be highlighted, not set in a "span". Is this anything I can do something about?

My site is City of Lobelville Search.

I've attached a screen shot for convenience.

Hi Pat,

Do you get the same if using a Joomla default template?

Cheers

You do need a search results page by the look of it

If you create a hidden menu link for that it will load there rather than the home page

Once you have the search results menu link created - then select this link via the search module

I'm expecting it to be a Joomla thing but you could try using shortcode syntax instead maybe add two stars instead of a span class

I just tested it using Protostar template, and it worked perfectly, no html in the results. I'll try the rest of your suggestions next.

Thanks,
Pat

I set up a menu item for Search in my hidden menu, then tested it as you suggested by having the module use this link, and I am still getting the "span" html showing. I'm not sure I understand what you mean by shortcode syntax. If you can tell me what to do, I would love to learn.

Thanks,
Pat

Hi Pat,

You should already have the shortcodes plugin installed and this comes with icons and styling support

docs.joomlabamboo.com/zen-grid-framework-4/theme/shortcodes/icons

so the syntax would be >

{zen-star}{/zen-star}{zen-star}{/zen-star}

Nobody has actually used it like this before as far as I'm aware but this might work

it would add two stars if the syntax isn't stripped

Cheers
