Accordion menu text separator not available

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hi All,

I am trying to put an accordion menu in sidebar1. I am following the instructions here: docs.joomlabamboo.com/using-t3/adding-an-accordion-menu

The problem is, in module manager, when I go to choose the base item for the menu, text separators and menu headings don't show up in the list.

If I make the top level menu item a different menu type like 'single article' it shows up in the list -- but I can't use that as the base item for an accordion menu.

Is this a Joomla bug or something you can help with?

Hi Joanne,

With setting the base level is there a particular reason you need to do this with the accordion?

I think the above behaviour is correct as those two menu types aren't links

Hi Paul,

I guess I don't have to. The text separator does show up when I don't choose a base item -- so that's good. But when I mouse over or click on it, nothing happens. The sub items don't show up.

I'm obviously doing something wrong. I've tried panel, accordion, and every other combination but I can't get it to work.

It's just a quick links menu and I can do it another way -- but I would like to know what I'm doing wrong for future reference. It's not urgent.

Hi Joanne,

You have added the class to the module - can you attach a screenshot of the advanced setting tab of the menu module

Do you also have accordion enabled in the template settings?

I have accordion enabled. I've tried both the panel and accordion options. I've tried always open first item, always show active menu item. Both checked, only one checked, neither checked.

Nada.

See attached advanced menu tab screen shot. If you get time to take a look you'll see another plugin as the quick links -- so there are two on the page in sidebar1. The native one is just a link.

Here's the url. pinatel721.com/usnf/

Thanks,

Joanne

Hi Joanne,

Remove the accordion class from the module class suffix

and to the module menu suffix add instead

zen-nav zen-nav-stacked zen-lines zen-accordion

Thanks, Paul.

But that still didn't work. I'm going to drop it for now but thanks for all you help, as always.
