SEO, tracking and https question

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hi there!

On www.mathelike.de I’m using different layouts with buildr.

joomla 3.6.5
buildr v1.3.2
zentools2 v2.3.3

1. Homepage is a builder background theme with a zentools2 backstretch slideshow. Every crawler/spider tells me about double identical h1 and h2 tags. And I can’t find out why. There’s a h1 slogan on grid 1 position and a h2 tagline on logo position which are both counted twice. How can I check the reason why. With my cpanel I’ve set mathelike.de and www.mathelike.de pointing to the same installation folder. And with sh404sef I’ve set to force www. if non-www. Is there something wrong with it? Is it possible that headers of maybe a print layout are also counted?

Screaming Frog SEO Spider gives me this information:

2. I’m recognizing a suddenly increasing bounce rate and I’ve read about the reason could possibly be the multiple usage of the tracking code. So in general, if I have a homepage template, a template for standard pages and some other templates for landing pages, do I have to copy the google analytics code withe the template settings before the closing head tag in every template I’m using if I want every page to be tracked? Or do I copy the code just once for example in the homepage template?

3. Since some weeks I’m in contact with cloudflares support to get https running on mathelike.de. I’m using cloudflares free flexible SSL certificate. The only problem is that the accordion menu I’m using on sidebar2 and offcanvas position is loosing it’s accordion function to show the active menu entry of the corresponding page. To compare http and https I did a copy installation of mathelike.de with mathelike.org (https). Cloudflares support told me that mixed content of having http and https urls could be the reason. But I think I have now corrected this issue, especially calling the external script for rendering math by https.
So my question is what else can cause loosing the menus accordion function by https enabled?
Joomla configuarion is forced to use https, configuration.php live site uses https and I'm using this joomla cloudflare plugin following the setup instructions: www.simbunch.com/products/free-extensions/cloudflare-for-joomla

Please compare the following identical contents and see the accordion menu open with http and partially closed with https (sidebar2 + offcanvas):

I know that I can use the accordion function only with the parent menu entries and not with the nested. But that’s enough when a user in this way can see the actual page and the navigation structure especially on mobile devices with the offcanvas menu.

Thanks for any assistance!

Hi Christian,

Its best with posts this long if you can split them up into separate question as it's highly likely I need to ask for help on parts of the question

It then gets confusing for everybody on what part they are looking at :)

Hi Paul,

yes, you're right, I'm going to split part 2 and 3.

With 1:
I thought by using responsive mobile classes the source code relies to the mobile device in use. But this was obviously a logical mistake. So it's better to have one module with content and a css handling the content (h1, h2, collapsing layout) for all devices?

Thanks,
Christian
