I would like to use ZT2 to set up something akin to the way some category blogs work (because J category blog layouts totally suck). Specifically, show the first post one way, and the others a different way.

To do this, I imagine I can deploy two modules, probably with most recent item first. Is it possible to exclude the most recent post in the second module, so as to avoid a duplicate?

Yep you can do this but it all depends on the sort order

So for the single item you'd need the most recently created displayed

and the second module you'd need the offset enabled so it ignored the most recently created

for the second module

I am using the one category as the content source to chose from - if using multiple categories you may want to use a parent category in the category structure

But I'd try and stick with one category

I'm getting the offset OK - but the 'count' is being ignored. I set it to three with an offset of one, but getting only a single item (as desired, though, the second one.)
