Hello, i love the responsive 2 template and currently am working on a site that uses that template that I downloaded quite some time ago.. Is it possible/advisable to update a template if there is a newer version and if so would I just upload the packaged file (not the quickstart) on top of the older version?

Are you referring to moving from Responsive2 to Buildr?

Or are you wanting to update Responsive2 to latest version? - if so what version number are you currently using?

With upgrading any recent Joomla Bamboo template you would back up the site first using an extension like akeeba backup first

You would need to disable / turn off any caching or css / js optimisation first

Then download the non quickstart template file and install it via the Joomla installer

If you have any cs or js optimisation still enabled you need to turn it off and save

It also says version 1.4.0
How do I turn off CS or JS optimization?

In this template you need to open the settings tab and look at js and css options

With 1.4.0 you do have the latest template

I would suggest updating zentools versions instead

Thanks... I went to download the latest Zen Tools and I clicked on the zip file but it downloaded and unzipped folder called JB_mod_zentools_J3+_1

I could not upload either via the template manager.

You can't upload an unzipped folder it needs to be a zip

You need to upload via the the Joomla installer
