Can't login to admin

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hi - I've got a problem logging into the admin area of www.southwalescorgis.co.uk.
To begin with I lost the site completely following a corrupt public_html file.
This was fixed by replacing the file from a server side backup.
But when I tried to login to the back end I didn't get the usual Joomla login panel, and all the passwords I tried failed.
I tried resetting the password in phpmyadmin, but this didn't work.
Eventually I restored the akeeba backup to a subdirectory of another site, but I get the same problem with an odd login panel, and no passwords being recognised.
The original site is www.southwalescorgis.co.uk, and the restored site is at www.branchwoodpublishing.co.uk/corgi
And I can't remember if I've updated to the site to 3.6.2, or it's still on 3.4xx or 3.5xx
Has anyone any ideas?
Thanks
Ian

Hi Ian,

The admin screen has a htaccess on it - you got past that right?

I normally use the "secret" option

Hi Paul - thanks for the super fast response :-)
Yes, I tried secret in phpmyadmin, and when that didn't work I tried the next step of creating a new super user admin2, as per the instructions. No joy here either.

I have disabled .htaccess and admin tools.

Incidentally, Phil at MyJoomla has just update akeeba and admintools, so he still has access to the back end.

Not sure what you mean by .htaccess on the admin screen, and no, I've not got past anything :-(

Hi Ian,

So you can enter successfully the htaccess details and then what do you see?

I disabled .htaccess via ftp. I can't access the admin area at all.

I've attached a screenshot of the login dialogue box I'm getting...

Are you sure you have disabled the htaccess?

This looks like a htaccess screen

HI Paul - there was a .htaccess.admintools which I hadn't disabled.

I now have, but I still get the same window...

Screenshot of disabled .htaccess attached...

Thanks

Ian

It still looks like you are hitting a htaccess so I would check to see if he can help

Looks like Phil at MyJoomla is taken up with flying lessons for the whole of September.

We must be paying him too much!

Thanks

OK

Is there anywhere else a .htaccess file could be hiding?

I'm beginning to lose heart...

Thanks

Ah. That's where it is!

I've got the proper login back now - all I've got to do is sort out the password.

Thanks Paul.
