Rasa2 Hikashop Categories as a accordion menu in sidebar

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hi All
I Have a large number of catagories which I think will best suit a accordion menu on the left side of the RASA2 template.
I currently have this structure in Hikashop
Product>Catagory1>Sub Category
>product list
There are many categories at Cat1 and many in the sub category with a list of products associated with each Sub Category.
Using HikaShop I have managed to get a navigation as a list with Cat1 but not a drop down or extended list for the sub category, this goes into the main page.
can anyone please advise how to set this up as an accordion as each Catagory is empty of product exept for the Sub Category where the products live

NB site is on a local server

Thanks for your help

Hi

I'm having a hard time following the structure - must be friday :)

Are you looking for accordions inside a parent accordion?

Cheers

Hi Paul... Recon it was Friday but I didn't make it easy!
OK Yes I would like to get and accordian within an accordian if that is possible?
Hikashop has a module catagories on 2 levels which gives a accordian however the style is just a list and I may possibly need an additional sub category but I can work round this if its a problem.
Hope that makes sense
My Hikashop catagories are like this:
Products (as in Hikashop basic structure)
>Parent Catgeory
>>Sub Category
With all products linking out from the sub categories
So do I use the Hika module or should I try to do this in a different way? (zenntoools?)
Thanks
Tony

Sorry to update the above.
I want to add the hika categories to the main menu to but as there are MANY categories I have found the maximenu-ck
www.joomlack.fr/en/joomla-extensions/maximenu-ck
and a patch
www.joomlack.fr/extension-joomla-maximenu/patch-maximenu-hikashop
Can this be done with any of the Joomla bamboo tools or is this worth using? any ideas?
Thanks

Hi Tony,

The accordion menu in the template doesn't support accordions in accordions I'm afraid so you would need to use an extension

Regarding the functionality of maximenu-ck there is quite a lot listed on that page - it depends what aspect of the module you plan to use

If its as above then you would need to use an extension of some kind

Thanks Paul

If I use the accordian menu in the template do I link to each of the Hikashop categories as normal in the Joomla site? That wouldn't be a problem other than typing all the categories out. Would the CK menue clash with the megamenu?

The CK accordion menu would replace the menu menu?

The template accordion is designed really for the sidebar position rather than main menu

Sorry Paul
I think I am making hard work of this!
1. I would like to place the hikashop categories from a normal menu item from the Joomla main menu, I understand this can be done by linking the joomla menu to each of the categories OR it can be done by using the CK menu which will add the Hikashop structure straight in.

So if I use the CK menu will there be conflict with the template menu style and structure? Worst case scenario I'll try it and see.

2. I would like to have an accordion menu in the side bar showing the catagories just like the accordian catagories in 2 levels as installed as standard with HikaShop, the main issue with this one is the plain list styling and not a series of containers which are styled like the site template. Are there options to have the same style and how would I go about this?

Thanks and sorry if I am making hard work of this.

1. Are we referring to inserting modules in the mega menu?
I'm not quite sure what you mean by

"OR it can be done by using the CK menu which will add the Hikashop structure straight in

I think I'm a bit hamstrung as I've not really used this module

There may be some styling issues I'm not a 100% sure - I'm afraid I'd suggest trying it to find out

2. Regarding the in built template accordion it could only be the toggle and then a link

If it is a Hikashop accordion I'd expect it would some styling to be added - we would have to see a link really

Hi Paul
OK I'll try the other extensions. I have taken enough of your time! Would you like me to report back how I get on? open or private ticket?

Thanks

Hi Paul
I have the Hikashop category in a module running in sidebar2 now, the headings are the green as styled in the template. When I click on a catagory it expands but I don't see any sub categories?
In the Hika module = Sub elements filter is set to Direct sub elements and "show all subcategories" is set to ALL direct subcategories. Is this correct?

Is the font white in the drop down so it can't be seen? (Template style?) if this is likley where can I edit it? I looked in Rasa@ general but couldn't effect a change.
Thanks

Hi Paul, not really but if I carry on having issues I'll move it over to a live server. What part of the template styling area would be the place to hunt down the font colours etc? Is it Rasa2 default or all positions?
Thanks

Hi

Its bit hard to be precise really - I can only really suggest troubleshooting the cssin the Chrome Developer Tools

If you had a link I could point you directly to the styling in question

A quick update for you, I believe the template was causing the issue with the Hikashop category accordion menu. I changed the Hikashop CSS (system) Front-end CSS file to “default” and now it is working correctly, I might need to sort the styling out but that is a different problem, for now it is working correctly. Thanks you for your patience. Absolutely fantastic support, it makes it all worthwhile.
