Xero template double click on menu items

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hi,

I'm using the Xero template to build an intranet site for the school I work at. I've created a menu item with a few sub menu items, and I'm finding that users using Chrome and Firefox need to double click on the parent menu heading to go to the page - the sub menu items only need a single click to go to the linked page.
Is this something that can be changed, as users are not likely to know to double click on the menu items to go to the content it links to.

Thanks,

Travis

Hmm, the plot thickens - I'm having this happen on your demo page:

bambootheme.com/showcase/oct14/

I need to double click the "Features" menu item to go to the features page.

I've tested the page out on a number of machines, and I think it's an issue with hi-res displays.

As a test I set up two machines - a Surface Pro 3 and a HP EliteBook 8560p with exactly the same software setup ( I work at a school and have a standard Windows 8.1 image deployed using MDT) These machines are identical in terms of software config (except for drivers) but have different displays - the surface is 2160x1440, the HP 1366x768

The menu links work as expected with a single click on the HP, but the surface needs two clicks on the top menu items. Maybe its an issue with Chrome & Firefox's high res handling, as Internet Explorer works as expected on both devices.

Is there any way we can work around this?

I think whats happening is that the theme is viewing the touch as a a touch device. And on touch devices the top level items are clicked twice to accomodate hover items.

I'll need to look at how to discern between laptops that have touch capability and will add this to the framework in a future update.

Thanks

Any update on this issue? I'm finding the same thing on a touch-enabled laptop using the Corporation template, and as these devices are getting more common I'm slightly concerned that content will be missed by some users who won't think to click twice.
