No worries Paul, this is more a cosmetics problem and doesn't stop me from continuing to build the site while I wait. Get to it when you have the bandwith.

Hi Peter,
Apologies for the delay on this.
Ive just tested here locally and it actually behaves as you suggest it should already.
Which position are you using the menu in? Ive tested here in grid1.

Thanks

It does with the top menu item. It does not (in my case) with the second one down and the sub-menues. When you click on a sub menu, on the target page the main menu item should stay with the accordion open and the relevant sub menu item indicated, instead it defaults to the first item rolled open, which is not what we want.

Check it out:

www.b2bwinloss.com/schmitzj3/index.php/en/

Check it out on the right hand menu (grid3 position) and click on one of the sub items of 'Selling to the CFO'. I would expect on the target page for the menu item 'Selling to the CFO' to stay rolled open? Also the color of that item does not change to indicate where I am on the page.

Can you replicate that problem on your end? I am asking because this problem persists both in XAMPP and in the live version. Or did you already test it with multiple menu items in this way?

Hi peter,
Yes I see the issue and it's working fine for me on sub menu items etc.

The issue is that your menu isn't getting the active menu state - just the current menu state.

For the first item opening you can disable that in the template settings under the effects panel. eg always open first item.

In fact I think the issue is due to your menu structure because the first item retains the active class. Or perhaps cache? Does clearing the cache fix the issue?

If not can you test with a completely new menu item to see if that displays the correct behaviour?
Thanks

Anthony,

progress!

If I disable the first menu item, indeed as you suspected, the menu does exactly what it is supposed to do.

I still don't understand that completely since now again an item with sub-items is in first position and yet no it works. Since I still need that faulty item in first position I will completely re-create that menu item including sub-items and see what it does.

I think what's happening is that the first menu item is taking precedence in the Joomla menu system. So it may be that the first menu item points to the blog category that the item in the second menu item is sitting in? Either way it's definitely an issue with the menu organisation as far as I can see.
Thanks

Ok, Anthony, Paul,

have re-organized the menu and this is much more like it. In fact, that's exactly it.

Thank you very much for sorting this. I think you're right, it was to do with menu organization.

Closing topic with gratitude.
