Lifestyle2 CLASSIC View Banner Links

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hi,

Quick question, how do I link any of the banners (there are 3 images) to their prospective articles? I created a menu and tried to link it that way, but I'm probably doing something wrong because it's not working. I have the ONE page as the default, and was able to get that working by creating a new menu and linking the articles there, but I can't seem to figure it out with banners in the CLASSIC view. How and where do I make it so the banners found on the CLASSIC view link to the right articles?

PS. I know it's a dumb question, but I spent too much time trying to figure it out on my own. I'm still learning my way around Joomla 3+ and this new style template.

Thanks,
Nader

Do you have a link?

I'm assuming this is a zentools module and the links pointing to the content are published in a hidden menu?

Hi Paul,

Not sure by what you mean a hidden menu. Do you mean an unpublished menu I create that I create menu items for? You helped me with the ONE page "More" buttons and linking those to the proper articles, but I can't figure out how to direct the links on the CLASSIC page (banners/headers) to the articles they're intended for. Please advise.

Thanks,
Nader

Yes with any Joomla site I build it always has a hidden menu -being used for content that is isn't linked too by any other menu shown on the site

It will be categories, articles and the search results page - all to serve the same aim - to ensure content loads on its own page and not the home page

This applies to any zentools or dynamic module loading articles - it needs a published working menu link on the system to work correctly

Thanks Paul, I understand that now. My question is still how do I enable the hidden menu, so that the Classic page banner/header photos link to articles intended for it?

Basically, I want to give the option of using the One page version and the Classic version as depicted in the live preview with the Home menu drop down. The idea is to have to banner photos on the Classic page to link to the same articles that are on the One page version of the site where the "More" buttons exist. I hope I'm making sense :(

I basically created another menu for the Classic page. I now have one for the Front page (which works as intended now) and the Classic page, which I can't get to work. I don't see how I can associate the menu item to a category. See attached.

Thanks,
Nader

Have a link for the site?

You use a category blog link normally on a hidden menu to cover the category link (although this does restrict module assignment a little)

Are we still referring to zentools modules?

As some of the sections are custom html modules
e.g. DELIVERING POWERFUL STRATEGIES

Hi Paul,

Here's a link to the site: jogasc.com/jogasc_beta/

You can toggle between the One page and the Classic view to see what I mean. The One page photos on the homepage go to the right articles. When on Classic view, I get a broken link when clicking on the banner/headers. I don't know how to link those banners to the same articles found on the One page view.

Thanks,
Nader

Hi Paul,

I created a separate menu for the Classic view, the same way I created a menu for the One page view. Attached is what I currently have for Classic view.

Thanks,
Nader

Hi Paul,

I'm sorry if I do not understand. All I can see is that the Zentools mod is Custom HTML. Is that what you're asking me or are you asking me about something within the mod itself?

Thanks,
Nader

Can you attach a screenshot with an arrow pointing to the module we are now talking about?

Hi Paul,

The mod is the Frontpage Slideshow because if I unpublish that mod, the banners/headers disappear from Classic View page. Pls see attached.

Thanks,
Nader

Hi Paul,

Rob helped me out. This doc is all I needed. Hopefully this will help others who may have the same issue. I just had to configure a few things in the Frontpage Slideshow mod settings.

The docs for external links are here: zentools.joomlabamboo.com/zentools-external-links-and-directory-tutorial

Thanks for your time and patience :)
