No City names show up in Maps 2

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hi!

I'm trying to figure out, why there are no city names, streets, etc. showing up on maps.

I your demo I can see all the city names, just like it's normal on Google, but in my case there is nothing to see. Even if I scroll deeperinside, there is no city name or any other text.

Please take a look at the screenshot.

I have the latest Joomla 3 Installation and the latest Maps 2 download and using the Lifestyle 2 template.

Thanks in advance!

Hi

Have you tried different presets? - they by default display different information

Hi Paul,

yes I tried all presets, but there are changing just the maps colours. I tried also all the different map types, like hybrid, road map, etc., but there is still no text. Nothing at all.

Thanks,
Chris

Hi Chris,

That's the zentools version number - the latest map version is 1.1.0
Is that what you have installed?

Hi Paul,

I'm sorry it was Version 1.1.1 (February 27, 2014) for JB Maps. That is what I see in the Joomla backend extension manager. But I downloaded it before a few days.

By the way, I have also problems to get ZenTools working, because of some issues with K2 Categories.

I have no idea, but maybe it is related to it?

Best,
Chris

Hi Chris,

Are you able to change the zoom level of the map as that may be the solution as your map is very zoomed out

With zentools can you open a different thread

Hi Paul,

yes, you'r right. I tested it. When I zoom in very deep inside, then I see some city names and when I zoom more, the I can see also city names.

But this not how it has to be.
When you take a look at the 2nd screenshot of Google Maps on their Website itself, there you can see also city names when it's zoomed from higher perspective. This is the way the module has to work.

I saw now, that in your demo page it works the same as in my case, but not in the way Google presents it normaly.

Best,
Chris

Hi,

The only control you have over the map names is the use of the styles. Google doesn't give you the option to turn them on and off through the api calls.

You can generate your own style using the Google map wizard here: gmaps-samples-v3.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/styledmaps/wizard/index.html

Select the elements you want to show or hide and change the visibility setting and then paste the json data into the style input in the advanced tab.

Regards,

Rob

Hi,

thanks for your answers.

The problem was the weather layer.
When it is switched on then the names dissappear.
It was written in a Google documentation.

Topic closed, thanks.
