Caution with JHackGuard

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

I installed JHackGuard (SiteGround Component) as we'd had some serious issues on out J! sites on a shared space I manage.

J! wasn't the entry point, WP was the issue, and we got all sorts of grief across the J! sites.

We installed K-Secure but clients we having issues managing the component, so once resolved we installed JHackGuard, as this is a SiteGround hosted site.

I don't normally post comments like this but in this case I will.
Editing the template with this component deletes the contents of the template config file.
Thanks Rob Went for the heads up.
I tested on 4 sites ... all the same

What I was most disappointed with was SiteGround basically washed their hands and put the issue back to me to resolve.
Escalations were of no use.

So BEWARE use JHackGuard at your own risk!

Totally agree about JHack and WP. On a staging environment we run, we quarantine the WP sites because of their security holes (cf. Cheese, Swiss).

Have you tried the 5G or 6G htaccess codes? It's a veritable curtain wall, and puts alligators in your moat.

Blueshift thanks so much : :woohoo:
For some WP is all they need but as you say way too many holes for my liking. Constantly looking over my shoulder.
I'd been told about 6G but nothing formative ... brilliant.
