Can anyone point me in the right direction with regards to point of sale hardware and Joomla? I am looking for some extensions that accepts barcodes from a handheld device. For instance in the shipping industry they already have devices that produce a barcode, I just need the joomla form to store the barcode and the label information.

This idea is for a shipping company.

There is for me a disconnect between the hardware and Joomla as there may be other steps that could make this easier that you are not mentioning.

Could you describe your assumed process flow?

Other queries that come to mind ...
What is the purpose of storing the barcode image?
Why the phone/barcode connection?
How many items?
How often changed/added?
How often Price changes?
Geographic location?

I am not a fan of VM ... built too many "shops" and wasted too much time on it to bother.
