Ascent not Google mobile friendly

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hi,

my test with the Ascent template fails on the Google mobile friendly test.
Is an update in the making?

Thanks!

Hi,

I just figured out that commenting /template in robots.txt fixes everything;

How did you do this? My Ascent site is also not mobile-friendly:

"Page appears not mobile-friendly

1) Content wider than screen
2) Links too close together
3) This page may appear not mobile-friendly because the robots.txt file may block Googlebot from loading some of the page's resources.

Hi

His issue refers to your point 3

You need to edit the robots text file

Open the robots.txt file in the root of your Joomla install. Comment the line that mentions "templates". This will allow Google bots to read the template as well, which is necessary to get the correct representation of the mobile version of the site.

Same question as outlined by others. Could you just tell me what - "Comment the line that mentions templates" - means in practical terms. Do I simply delete this: Disallow: /templates/ or change it to: Allow: /templates/ tks. Philip

If you use a plugin like jch optimise then you will need to allow plugins, remove the line or allow the jch specifically

It worked. Amazing. I did actually update with the standard Joomla robots.txt to replace an older version

With jch test and retest - it is an incremental tool but it is easy to trip up

I've used it myself a few times and it can take a little time to get right

If using JCH I'd also install cache cleaner from Regular Labs as its much quicker to clear the cache this way
