Does the latest version include the https prefix for the url of the "markers"?

The default marker icon is taken from google

so I think the marker should display if you change the path of the image to https

ah... I see if I understand correctly... the URL field seen in the Markers tab is received from Google and simply dropped in by Maps2 for users to edit if they wish.

Therefore, until Google sends you a "new" value with a https prefix, the issue will persist.

Hence why adding the s to the icon image http path should work

You can equally load an icon from within your website

the path is in the marker tab

if you look at the path to the marker from google it is http

change this to https

Have you tried this?

You should be able to load the google marker via https

Yes, all is working well Paul and I had done this yesterday. I was trying to find a solution so others don't have the same "mixed content" issue when they move to SSL.
