Lazy Load Doesn't Work

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

It appears that Lazy Load doesn't work on my test site (fresh installation). :(

I'm using the latest version 2.1.4 for Joomla 3
Perhaps this glitch went unnoticed when upgrading to Joomla 3?

Hi there,

I dont see the lazyload files being loaded on your site actually. Can you check that the plugin is indeed published and the option is enabled in the plugin settings?

Thanks Anthony

They were both on. ;) Just for evidence sake I enabled the scroll to the top feature for you to see it's on.

And here's a screen shot of lazy load enabled.

I had a feeling I was going to be asked this. B) Has lazy load been tested for Joomla 3?

Hi!

Anthony is right, I can't see any lazyload script in your page. Do you have the latest JB Library installed? Yes, it was tested on J3, and just to make sure I have tested it now, again, and it worked.

Let me know what JB Library version you are using.

Thanks.

I re-installed it just to make sure nothing was up. I of course re-activated it with the scroll to top and lazy load.

I'm using version 2.1.4 of JB Library which I take it is the latest version. Because this is the test site with very little data I'm willing to give you super admin access if your willing to do any tests.

Hmmmm... Just found out that lazy load still has the page load all the images but doesn't display them until you scroll down (the images come in with the fade effect). I could see that helping the browser browse faster, but I thought the main point was to prevent "all at once loading"? Am I missing a point?

Hi Josh,

I believe if you check the inspector the images aren't loaded but the placeholders are.

So the actual asset isnt loaded but the required markup is.

Hope that helps.

I wish that was so, but checkout this page:
www.alpinejosh.com/adventure/119-the-grand-tour-a-15-day-mountaineering-road-trip

You will see that it keeps loading until all the images are on the page even at the very top. I know, lots of pictures. That's what makes it a great example. ;)

P.S. I see we both use the exact same host. :)

Yeah great images there by the way - are you the Josh in the photos? Man I'm very envious of all that trekking.

In the plugin settings can you try broadening the selector to just:

#main_container img.

Im actually heading to Arizona and New Mexico in July. Going to go through Monument Valley and some slot canyons. Not sure I have too much time to get way up into the mountains like that.

Yes I'm the same Josh of that trip as well as all the other trip reports on the site. Most of the photos in my stories were taken by me, but there are a few exceptions (this story has a few that weren't). But I link to my friend's pictures and got permission. ;) Most of the photos were taken by me.

I changed the selector to .thumb img which didn't really do the trick. I tried #main_container img and even tried just plain img. Cleared both Joomla and Browser cache just to make sure nothing was sitting (as well as expired).

Not sure if this is good news but I tried the Lazy Load plugin from another extension which it works just fine as seen here. You might say "well good, if it's good enough, then okay". But I like how JB Libraries is consolidated into one extension which is why I'm persistent to try and make this work.

Now I know you folks do a lot of testing on your extensions but sometimes subtle things are missed. Has the latest JB Libraries been tested on Joomla 3 with lazy load activated with an article with lots of images? The lots of images part makes it more clear if the images are loading initially or not.
