JB Library plugin update broke my site

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hi,
I installed the latest update of the J2.5/3.0 JBLibrary plugin, and it completely broke my site.
I saw in the files that it didn't copy some of the files on the server, so I copied them by hand.
Now my site works again, but the JQuery elements like the JB Slideshow on my site don't work.
So there is still something wrong with the plugin.
I use the Newscycle template, which use the zen grid framework 1.1.7

Please help me out because the site is fucked up without the jquery elements!!

Hi!

I can help you, but could please provide a link for your site?
And open a support ticket with a Joomla admin access, so I can help you fix that.

Thanks

I deleted the files of the new plugin and put the old plugin files back from a back-up, and now everything works again like before.
I just want to say that it's dangerous to install that plugin, I nearly lost my site because of this.

Hi,

I'm so sorry for the trouble but we have just released a fix for this issue.

To be clear though you would not have lost your site as all of the information is stored in the database and the plugin has no bearing on the database. I'm sure it would have been a shock though so I'm sorry for the trouble it caused.

Thanks Anthony

Yeah well I remained calm, always best in crisis situations :-)

You are sure the fix is ok?

The reason why I updated the plugin is because it seems to conflict with RSJoomla's RSEvents Pro component:

"We have made some tests and the issue that you are experiencing is not caused by the component, but from the "System - JB Library" plugin. This plugin appears to load mootools twice on your pages, thus when you click the "Load more" button, instead of a single request, two requests were made for loading more events, thus generating the duplicate issue. We have re-enabled the plugin after the tests were completed."

I thus hoped with updating the plugin this issue would resolve.

Regards
Benoit

More trouble.

Images in Zen Tools modules appear to be broken, while the images are present in the directory.
When creating a new Zen Tools grid module, the images all appear as broken links.

I tried installing the 'fixed' JB library plugin, but there are still problems with copying files. Setting the file permissions doesn't help.

Copying the files manually broke my site again.

Have copied the old plugin files manually but with the above described issue (broken images)

Can someone have a look into this??

I am very unhappy that this plugin update caused this much problems.

No I don't have a subscription anymore so I can't open a ticket.

But I don't think I should pay just because you released a buggy plugin that messed up my site.
I think you should straighten out the damage that has been caused.

thanks.

OK, can you please post a link to the front-end of your site here then, so we can see what's happening? Thanks.

Ive just added a month for your sub so you can create a ticket.

We can't replicate the issue you have with JB library here so we are keen to see what the other variable is.

In terms of the images we will look at that too however it looks like this image does not exist:

/adc/media/plg_jblibrary/imagecache/d1556ec24a54efc931faec8d7c443ea9.jpg

Can you try deleting the files in the /adc/media/plg_jblibrary/imagecache folder to see if the script can regenerate the images.

Again though if you'd prefer we can take a look at this for you in the ticket.

I deleted the images in the imagecache folder.
Now all images appear to be broken on my site:
www.stopdierproeven.org/adc/nl/

It appears that the script doesn't generate the images anymore

I can add to that. I want to show an image plus an intro text of a K2 article. After updating, the before working grid module did not show any content anymore. Both, image and text were gone.

I could get the text to display, after I changed the access rights to "public" for all of these articles (no fun to do in K2). This trick also helped me with accordion contents. I could not get the images to re-appear though.

Unfortunately, I updated quite a bunch of modules and extensions (including zen framework and K2), so I cannot say for sure which one caused it.

If you need to see my example, please have a look at:

Hi,

Sounds like a different issue actually.

Can you create a new thread if you still need help with this?

Thanks

The issue is resolved now, my hosting company changed the group to apache and therefore to 775.

Now everything appears normal.
I hope 775 is not unsafe to use, only world cannot write files.

Thanks for your help anyway!
