I just checked the source on that page and it may be because there is a double slash at the end of the stories directory

Try that and see if that works ...

found the problem:

the filenames are, obviously since my server is running Linux, case sensitive. I was using snapshots generated on my Mac by pressing Command-Shift-4. I didn't notice that their names began with upper-case letters, e.g. "Picture 1.png", whilst I was starting their names with lower-case letters in the module config...

I feel like such an idiot!
