Build.r is perfect!

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hey Guys, wanted to share with all what Joomla Bamboo's Build.r theme has become for my new photography website;

edhathaways.website

it's still a work in progress getting all of my photos uploaded, cataloged and displayed. However, the overall Build.r theme is locked down and more than ready for prime-time.

Thanks Anthony!

(all the extensions & photos being used are my own)

Thanks Ed,

Some great photos in there - not sure I'd like to meet that yellow lizard on a dark night :)

Thanks Paul...

That lizard is a Land Iguana and they do like snacking on stupid tourist fingers! I've added photos to the empty menus so the site is really taking shape.

Nice :)

With the police picture was there a problem with security?

None at all...

Peru was having their elections when we were there. The ruling district party controls security and police and whenever they have a rally they bring out the big guns. It's their way of saying, "We're in control here!" You can bet there are very few 'hecklers'... ;)

That's a great looking site, Ed! I haven't given Build.r a try yet, but it sounds like a big step forward for JB and I'm looking forward to it.

Very nice work on your EH extensions too :-)

Hi Ed

Enjoyed looking through your images, thanks for sharing.

For your information the site does not show any images on my Samsung Note 8 tablet and menus are hidden at these smaller screen sizes. Just the main header and footer is shown.

Porwig,

Thanks and as always, very kind comments! Not 100% sure but believe Build.r will be my go-to theme package when starting a new client build. It's that good! In addition, since I know and understand how JB does stuff, getting a new site on-line has become super fast.

When building my extensions I always test against the native Joomla! theme and JB's theme(s). If both pass my testing, they are good to be released to a client or onto JED.

Hope you are having a great weekend and again, thanks!

Ian,

Thanks for the heads-up! Fixed the menu issue on small screened devices however, I do not have a Samsung Note 8 tablet to test against. I do have the Samsung T800 tablet and Galaxy S7 smartphone and both show my galleries properly. The tablet does not show my home page image & special effect but the phone does. I can live with this... ;)

Thanks Ian!

Hi Ed

On the note 8 (Android 4.4.2) i can now see your inspiring images.

In potrait your twitter and instagram icons are missing, just header and footer showing with menu nav.

Neither portrait or landscape show your background image or effect, but the images are the star of the show and you can now see them fine!

I agree jb have done a fab job with buildr/zgf5 all very logical and easy to modify. Now just need to make some time to get my own gallery uploaded.

Cheers Ian

Ian,

Made a number of adjustments to get stuff to show on all media screens. Thanks for the 'kick in the knickers'!

1) Added my social icons to show on phones & tables (bottom position) using JBs ZenSocial. Because of my long logo I had the Build.r social turned off for phones & tablets. Did not like the wrap-around look on small devices.
2) For tablets only I'm using a static image of myself as a fall-back. My 'BlurAholic' effects extension does not perform properly on tablets (something to work on before releasing on JED.).
3) As you saw, there is now a small screen menu.
4) Will be adding new media query code to my GalleryAholic extension to better support tablet displays.

Ian, I can't thank you enough for your feedback. It forced me to 'view' my site outside my 32" desktop monitor. Also, thanks for your kind comments regarding my galleries... very kind!
