Hi,
I've recently downloaded and implemented the free 'Make Contact' extension. Thanks for making this module available.

Within a few weeks, I started to receive spam through the form. Normal stuff about enhancement, stock tips, royal bank accounts, etc.

The 'Make Contact' version I downloaded here was listed as 1.1, but on install, I can see the version is 1.0.

Could this be the source of the spam problem?

No it says 1.0 becuase I didnt update the xml.

There is actually no inbuilt spam protection on that module unfortunately. The usual 'hack' characters are filtered out but no captcha to stop spamming unfortunately.

Thanks - I appreciate the quick response. I understand that this is a free and 'light-duty' module - so I have no complaint at all.

If I can find the time - I'll look into having a coder here add some security.

I have the same problem with the make contact form on my site - I have tried integrating a useful open source free captcha security image code from white hat web design which can be found here:

The code is usually used when a contact form's output is directed to another resulting page, however seeing as the make contact form outputs its data to itself (and due to my limited php skills!!) I cant get the code to work with make contact.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

We havent got a captcha function on the module yet and not sure if we plan to. Did you try putting the actual url for the contact page as the destination url?

Could you explain this a little more. I'm trying to use this as a rplacement for the MooFAQ email submit. I can't get it to work with SEF404 (mail just disppears and redirect is back to the home page).

I just checked and the module isnt working for sef urls. Ill take a look over the next few weeks and see I can put a sef friendly version together.
