Hello, perhaps I'm making a stupid mistake, but I can't get to install the new media template.

- I downloaded the 1.5 quickstart package and expanded it to a folder
- I uploaded that folder to the ftp-server
- I directed my browser to the location and got: "Database Error: Unable to connect to the database:Could not connect to MySQL"
- I looked in the folder on the server and saw that the 'installation' folder was named 'instdallation'
- I checked in the originally downloaded zip-file and saw it was the same
- When I change it back to 'installation', I get the message that the folder should be removed.

However, I didn't get the chance to set my ftp and mysql server settings anywhere???

Or does this template follow a different procedure then other quickstart packages?
On another site, I used the 'Bliss' quickstart package which worked like a charm.
I assumed the 'new media' quickstart package would be installed according to the same procedure, if not, I think it's a bit confusing...

help and/or explanation is much appreciated...

Hi Klaas,

Apologies this is my mistake. Ive just updated the package but you can rename the installation folder to installation and delete the configuration.php file and that will get you headed in the right direction.

Thanks for the quick-fix, much appreciated.

However, when entering the site, nothing shows.
I can login the backend, and there I can see in the frontpage member that it is empty...

Perhaps I'm a little demanding, but I had such a 'bliss' experience with the 'Bliss template start package', that I'm getting a little spoiled perhaps...

Hi Klaas,

You are not being demanding at all I just installed the package twice and it wored "blissfully" for me - do you have other content populated?

Perhaps open the sample-database.sql file in the installation/sql/mysqlsample_data.sql file and try re-inserting it into the database you created.

If you are using a webserver and not a local server check that all of the files were uploaded also. It wont be giving you the blank content but is worth checking anyway.

we are building a new website, so the server has multiple folders and installs..

I've currently installed the package to ourdomain.nl/site/

What does work is installing the template onto our existing joomla install, but I didn't feel like installing and setting up all the modules seperately.
The beauty of the package is that it's all set and done...

I reinstalled the entire thing, but same problem.
I now however renamed the installation directory in stead of deleting it, so I can try your other suggestion...

That was a wee bit too optimistic.
Me saying I could now follow your other suggestion...

Since I now find out I don't understand what you mean by it...

so far, http://www.tv-de-ijpelaar.nl/joomla2/ remains blank, although I can login at the backend..

edit/update: I installed the whole thing into a new folder and connected it to another mysql dbase.

However, same result: blank page.
At least it is not the mysql server than...

edit/update2:
I installed the package to the root of another server (http://www.koelalskomkommer.nl/) to see if the other files or servers etc. were disturbing the matter.
However, after install, same thing: blank page...

Now, I'll download the package again, perhaps I screwed up the zip-files or something like that...

Hi Klaas,

I couldnt repeat the error that you found but I did notice a few bugs with this version. You can find v1.0.12 of the template and v2.08 of the quickstart in the download area.

Ive tested this on 3 separate installs so it should work blissfully for you.

Though 1 thing confused me when I downloaded the package again:
The fact that the zip file still ends on v2.0.1 doesnt' mean it's version 2.0.1?
It contains 2.0.8?

Not sure which file you are looking at ... the zip ends in 2.08 and its the first file in the download area. Is that the one you are downloading? If so then maybe clear you cache ... I dont think it will be cached but its possible.

hmm, I think we're up to something......

I click your link > click 'club templates' > click '2008 template releases' > click 'September 08 New Media' > click the top file

And then I'm getting 2.0.1
The description says 2.0.1 as well, even after refreshing the page...

I'll try emptying the cache..

HMm no its me thats up to something ... I need to get my eyes tested

v2.0.2 is now in the download area. Ive fixed some issues with the template that was throwing an error and also set legacy to published.

I think this will fix the issue you were having.
