TOPIC: Setting up Bamboo Clean.

Setting up Bamboo Clean. 1 Year, 3 Months ago Karma: 40
Here are the details for module locations and classes available in the bamboo clean template:

Bamboo Clean comes with a lot of module positions. There are 15 in total and most are collapsible, which means that if your content needs more room you can just make the space by collapsing the modules you arent using.

To get an idea of how flexible the template is just click on the menu items at the very top, plus the last menu in the top menu. You can see the various heights that the header area can be changed to.

The demo site uses module positions in the following way:

* Top is at the very top of the page

* User 1 holds the Joomla Bamboo Logo

* User 2 holds the quote on the right hand side.

* User 3 holds the top menu (as opposed to the very top menu)

* User 4 and User 5 will only appear if user 1 and user 2 are unpublished. When this occurs the top left bamboo image disappears and the top area shrinks to allow your content to push to the top of the page.

* Right holds the right nad column modules

* Advert1 sits above the main content area but below the top menu.

* Advert2 sits below the main content and above the bottom user modules.

* User 6, User 7 and User 8 are positioned below the main content area.

* Banner position is located below User 6, User 7 and User 8 and stretches to the whole width of the page.

* Bottom is positioned in the footer at the bottom left and Footer is positioned in the very bottom area on the right.

Most of the module classes are hardcoded into the template so you dont have to mess around with adding extra class suffixes, but to allow the menus and other modules to display properly you will need to use the following classes:

* -vtop_menu is designed for the menu at the very top of the page.

* -top_menu is designed for user module 3.

* -bot_menu can be used for a flat list menu in the bottom footer area.

We have also included the following classes to help position modules (in particular the spacing/padding above) the way that you want to. Here are the module classes and css you can use to position modules:

* -padding70 {padding: 70px 0 0 0}

* -padding50 {padding: 50px 0 0 0}

* -padding30 {padding: 30px 0 0 0}

* -padding20 {padding: 20px 0 0 0}

* -padding10 {padding: 10px 0 0 0}

My friend just downloaded the JB Bamboo Ultra and when she tried to install it, got the following error message: File /hermes/web04/b1625/eh.editor/media/install_47657be42a6a1/JB_Bamboo_Ultra_1.2/images/arrow_right.gif does not exist!

Can you please help us resolve this issue? Thank you...Katrina

Anthony,

Thanks for the documentation on this. It makes a good reference.

Can you tell me the best way to approach a new template? Do an inline preview to see the module positions? Study the index.php file? (I'm not that knowledgeable with php.)

I'm trying to understand how I can use the various templates for different projects.

When I view Bamboo Clean over a default content install of Joomla 1.5, I see this.

Is this another version control issue?

Hey Hifive,

I prefer to do an inline preview because that gives you a quick visual reference. The bamboo Clean is a little bit different because there are some conditional statements that probably wont show you exactly what its capable of.

The main thing you've missed there is changing the two menus to have a module class as follows:

Use -vtop_menu for the menu at the very top of the page.

Use -top_menu for user module 3.

Also:

1. Assign menus to those two positions using the flat list option (probably a legacy flat list).

2. Unpublish all other modules that appear in those two positions.

This should be all thats need to get the default installation looking good

Bamboo Clean 1.1 has just been released with support for a suckerfish menu, plus the addition of the pathway module and an ie6 bug.

Setting up the drop down menu.

1. Menu type - flat list

2. Exapand Menu - yes

3. Use menu template - yes

4. menu template - menu/menu.html

That should pretty much do it.

Hi Jan,

You can find it close to the bottom of the extended menu parameters ... Just above the image indent settings.

I really really love this template, but... I can't get it running on Joomla 1.5, just too complicated.
Would you consider to make a clean install package for Joomla 1.5?

I would be sooooo grateful

Cooooooooool! I've got it up and running now - I'm so relieved, because I really wanted this template to work with Joomla 1.5, but couldn't manage (have been trying for a week - even with the migration tool buuurgh)

Aaaah, finally I can start with the content. I will post the link in the appropiate topic to show, when ready

Thanks Anthony!

Good news

Yes its actually a pretty tricky template and I would code it quite differently if I were to make it now.

Might be worth rebuilding as its quite popular
